How long does it take to make a payment to my credit card?

Below are the different ways that a Royal Bank of Scotland credit card bill can be paid, and the time to allow for each payment method.

Royal Bank of Scotland Mobile App

• Up to midnight the following working day

Royal Bank of Scotland Digital Banking

• 2 hours for Faster Payments
• 3 full working days for other payments

Royal Bank of Scotland telephone banking - Royal Bank of Scotland current account holders only

• 2 hours for Faster Payments
• 3 full working days for other payments

At any branch of NatWest or Royal Bank of Scotland

• 2 hours for Faster Payments
• 3 full working days for cash and other payments
• If paying by cheque, funds must be cleared before payment is accepted

Direct debit

• Minimum payment - payment is claimed 25 calendar days from statement date or shortly afterwards
• Full payment - payment is claimed 15 calendar days from statement date or shortly afterwards

Cheque payments by post

• 7 full working days
• Funds must be cleared before payment is accepted

Another banks' online and telephone banking services

• 2 hours for Faster Payments
• 3 full working days for other payments

Working days excludes weekends and bank holidays.

At a branch of any other bank

• 3 full working days
• If paying by cheque, funds must be cleared before payment is accepted
