We know that recent events in the Middle East and the resulting disruption may be worrying, especially if you’re travelling or preparing for an upcoming trip to the region. We want to offer guidance to help you understand what this may mean for you, as well as for your family and friends.
Concerned about existing travel plans?
- Please wait for your airline or tour operator to confirm cancellation before cancelling yourself, as this may affect your eligibility for a refund.
- If your flight is cancelled by the airline or tour operator, they can advise you on your options, including refunds or rebooking
- Keep receipts for any essential extra expenses, as these may be needed for refunds or insurance claims.
If you’re already travelling
- Please follow the latest advice from the UK Government on GOV.UK, as well as updates from your airline or tour operator, who can give you the most up‑to‑date information about your journey.
Travel insurance
- Your airline or tour operator should be your first point of contact, as they can explain how your travel plans are affected.
- Many standard travel insurance policies do not cover disruption caused by acts of war or armed conflict.
- We recommend checking your policy wording carefully or contacting your insurer directly to confirm what is covered.

Using your card abroad
- Your debit and credit cards will continue to work as normal. Please ensure:
- We have your correct contact details in case we need to reach you.
- You use secure channels to check your balance and transactions while travelling.
If you need access to additional funds
We understand that unexpected situations such as flight cancellations or travel delays can create financial stress. If you need a bit of extra support, there are two quick ways you may be able to access additional funds:
1. Request a credit limit increase
If you already have a credit card with us, you can request an increase to your existing credit limit directly in the Mobile App.
If your request is approved, your new limit will be available to use immediately.
2. Apply for an overdraft
If you prefer, you can also apply for an arranged overdraft on your current account.
If approved, your overdraft will become available by the next working day.
Be alert to scams
Unfortunately, travel disruption can lead to an increase in fraud. Please:
- Only use official airline or travel operator websites.
- Be cautious of unexpected emails, texts or calls offering refunds or alternative bookings.
- Never share your banking details or security codes with anyone.
