Can I use my Royal Bank of Scotland credit card abroad?

Yes! Our credit cards are widely accepted at millions of oversea retailers and ATMs. To use you credit card abroad, just look for the Mastercard or VISA (depending on which type of credit card you have) logo in retailers or on a cash machine.

When you next look at your transactions (in app or on your statement) you will see the purchases and withdrawals you made abroad shown in local currency and then exchanged into pounds sterling. The exchange rate (known as the Payment Scheme Exchange Rate) is set by Visa or Mastercard and these fluctuate daily. It should also be noted that a small percentage fee called a Foreign Transaction Fee is charged on some of our credit cards.

To help understand how much it cost to use your card abroad, you can use our Card currency calculator.
