Switching Between Banks

 

If you want to move a direct debit from one bank to another:

  • Contact the company or organisation that takes the payment (the originator).
  • Give them your new bank account details so they can update their records.

Example: If your gym membership is paid by direct debit and you’ve recently opened a new account with us, contact your gym directly to update your payment details so it comes from your Royal Bank of Scotland account.

If you want to move a direct debit from one account to another you would need to contact us.

What Happens After Switching?

 

  • Your direct debits will appear in Digital Banking for the new account after the first payment is taken.
  • The original direct debits will show as ‘Amended’. You can cancel these to keep your account tidy.

 

Please note: Only one payment is taken during the switch, and it will follow your new direct debit details.

 

How to View or Cancel Direct Debits

 

  1. Log in to your Digital Banking service at digitalbanking.rbs.co.uk (opens in a new window) .
  2. From the main menu, select 'Payments & transfers'.
  3. Choose 'Manage direct debits' under the 'Direct debits' section.
  4. You’ll see your existing direct debits and can cancel any you no longer need.
