What is a remortgage?

What is a remortgage?

The term 'remortgage' refers to someone moving their mortgage from one lender to another (switching mortgage lender), without moving home. The new mortgage lender gives you the money to repay the old one in full.

Some customers use the term 'remortgage', when referring to their current mortgage e.g. increasing their borrowing with the same lender, and/or switching to a new deal.
