A mortgage can have no more than two people, and we’ll charge an administration fee for the change - see our change of parties administration fee on our Tariff of Charges. You'll also need to instruct your own solicitor to complete the legal work.
Applying for Transfer of Title
Before you apply
- Everyone being added or removed must agree to the change and sign the paperwork.
- If you need extra borrowing to buy someone out, make sure you’ve agreed the amount before you apply.
- If you have other borrowing secured on your home—or used Help to Buy/shared equity—check with those lenders that they’re happy for you to change the names on your mortgage.
- If this is part of a divorce settlement, it’s best to wait until court proceedings are finished before applying.
