How do I change my Digital Banking security number or password?

To update your PIN or password:

 

  1. Log in to Digital Banking at digitalbanking.rbs.co.uk (opens in a new window)
  2. Select 'Security' from the main menu
  3. Under 'Change log in details', choose 'Change your security number' or 'Change your password'
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Important: The security number and password you set will be used for both Digital Banking and telephone banking.

 

security number criteria

 

Your new security number must be 4 digits long.

 

To keep your PIN secure, we cannot accept:

  • Numbers in ascending or descending order (e.g., 1234 or 7654).
  • The same digit repeated three or four times (e.g., 1222 or 7777).

 

Password criteria

 

Your new password must:

  • Be 8–20 characters long.
  • Include both letters and numbers.
  • Contain no spaces, symbols, or special characters.

 

To keep your password secure:

  • Avoid dictionary words, names, or easily guessable information.
  • Do not use common patterns like qwerty or 1234.
  • Consider using a phrase or sentence with slight modifications, such as replacing letters with numbers.

 

Why might my PIN or password not be accepted?

 

If your PIN or password does not meet the criteria above, Online Banking will reject it. Double-check the requirements and try again.
