Just a four-hour flight away, the Canary Islands are justifiably a very popular winter sun destination. With seven different islands to choose from, there’s something for everyone. Gran Canaria is a top choice for holiday makers, with its huge stretches of dunes, pine forests and sunshine galore. In addition to buzzy Playa del Ingles, popular resorts include its quieter neighbour San Augustin, sophisticated Maspolomas, and pretty Puerto Mogan.
Cape Verde has grown in popularity over recent years. Just an hour further on from the Canaries, its 10 islands are a beach lover’s paradise. But it also offers plenty of opportunities for island hopping, fishing, trekking and water sports.

Another draw is the fact that the flights into Grenoble and Chamonix are relatively short, giving you maximum time to check out the après ski opportunities and of course all that delicious food.
