Here's our quick holiday checklist to help you make sure you've covered all the essentials before you set off, as well as some top money saving tips to help make your spending money go further while you’re away.
It might not be the most exciting part of planning your holiday, but it is one of the most important!
Read our guide to travel insurance to help you choose the right cover for your trip. Some of our current accounts offer insurance as a benefit, so check if you have one of them before you arrange your policy.
Don't forget to register your travel plans with us too, so your cards are less likely to be blocked when use them overseas.
Remember to let someone back home know where you're going, where you're staying and when you’ll be back, just in case they need to get in touch.
Make sure your passport hasn't expired and you’ve got enough time left on it to meet the requirements of the country you're travelling to. Find out about renewing your passport at gov.uk. If you need a visa for your trip, check that’s all in order too.
Get your travel money sorted in advance and shop around to get the best exchange rate.
Depending on where you're travelling to, you may need to check if your jabs are up-to-date. Check the NHS website for more information, and have a chat with your GP to find out if you need any boosters or extra medication before you go.
Make a list of all the little things you’ll need to buy before you fly, like sun cream, travel adapters and something to read on the beach, so you don’t end up paying over the odds for them at the airport or while you’re away.
If you're travelling in Europe, remember to take your free EHIC card with you so that you're able to get free medical care if you need it when you're travelling.
Plan your journey to and from the airport to see if there are any savings to be made by booking things like taxis and airport parking in advance. If airport transfers at your destination aren’t included in your holiday package, it’s worth doing a bit of research into how much it’d cost for a taxi or bus from the airport too.
Your time on holiday is precious so don't waste time worrying about your finances.
