New regulations are changing the accepted address formats for international payments.

The industry deadline for removing unstructured address formats was originally set for 14 November 2026, but this has now been postponed. We’ll share the new industry dates when they become available.

In the meantime, structured and hybrid address formats are already available for Bankline payments and templates. We recommend reviewing and updating your saved templates now to help minimise disruption when the new deadline is confirmed.

Check which countries and currencies require a payee address.

What do I need to do?

Check your access before you start. To review and update templates, you’ll need the appropriate Bankline access:

  • View Templates to see templates.
  • Maintain Template to make changes.
  • Check Template to approve changes if dual control is enabled on your profile.

If you don’t have the correct access, contact your Bankline Administrator.

Got lots of templates?

You can export your international payment templates to identify which ones contain an address or information in the unstructured address formats. This is also a good opportunity to review your templates and delete any you no longer need.

How to export your payment templates and check for addresses

  1. Log in to Bankline and go to Payments, then Templates.
  2. In Template status, select Active.
  3. Select More filters and choose International under Payment type.
  4. Select Apply filters.
  5. At the bottom of the page, select View templates and choose 100.
  6. Return to the top of the page and select the top checkbox on the left-hand side to choose all visible templates.
  7. Select Create export, then Export.
  8. Open the downloaded file and go to column AH.
  9. Filter column AH to display non-blank values.

This will show the addresses that you need to update or remove in Bankline. You’ll find the names of the affected templates in column F.

Top tip: If you have more than 100 templates, repeat the export process for each page of results. Rename each downloaded file, for example using the page number, to make them easier to manage.

What happens next?

We’ll share the new industry dates when they become available. In the meantime, beginning your review now can help you prepare and minimise disruption when the deadline is confirmed.
