How do I send a payment on Pay Your Contacts?

All you need is their mobile phone number and they don’t need to bank with Royal Bank of Scotland.

How to send a payment

Step 1 - In the app, tap ‘Payments’ on the bottom of the home screen. Make sure the account shown is set to the account where you want to make the payment from. You can swipe to change accounts or tap 'Change account'. Tap 'Send money' and then tap 'Pay Your Contacts'

Step 2 - If the recipient's mobile number is registered for Pay Your Contacts, continue to enter the payment information.

Step 3 - If you are aged 16+ and they're not registered, press 'Yes continue' to send them a one-time payment link. Enter the payee name, reference and amount you wish to pay and select ' Continue'. If you are aged 13-15 and they're not registered, press "Yes continue" to send money using the payees sort code and account number.

Step 4 - If you are aged 16+, confirm security checks and details are correct and click 'Generate payment link'. Be sure to tap 'Share your payment link' and select your preferred social messaging channels, including WhatsApp, SMS or email and send. Once the recipient opens the link, they will see a list of participating banks to choose from. If you are aged 13-15 you will be taken through the Make a Payment journey.
