A non-sterling transaction fee is usually applied to any payment made in a foreign currency. When you use your card abroad, we need to convert the transaction from the local currency into sterling.

Our non-sterling transaction fee for debit cards is 2.75% of the value of the transaction.

What's included:

• You're automatically covered but we recommend you register your mobile phone to make the claims process quicker.
• Worldwide cover for your mobile phone against loss, theft, accidental damage or breakdown (once your manufacturer's warranty has expired). Please note if you're outside the UK we won't repair or replace your phone until you return.
• 1 approved claim during any 12-month period. If this is a joint account, each account holder can make 1 approved claim (maximum two per account).
• Standard accessories that are lost, stolen or damaged at the same time as your phone, are covered up to £250.

Key exclusions:

• £50 excess when you choose our convenient walk-in or mobile repair options.
• £100 excess if you send your phone for repair by mail.
• £100 excess when your phone is replaced.
• Phones with a screen size of 7 inches or greater aren’t covered.
• Covers the phone you use on a daily basis. If your account is in joint names, cover is also provided for the phone the other account holder uses on a daily basis.

• Log in to register a claim online, or call us to speak to an agent. We’ll run through a few details and ask you some questions.
• Contact us to report the incident. Claims should be reported as soon as possible when theft, loss, damage or breakdown is discovered.

Buy a reduced price eCode with us and use your eCode to buy a ticket at one of these cinema chains throughout the UK. Simply:

• Log in to buy your eCodes online and click on 'Cinema Discount'.
• Then choose a cinema chain and the number of codes you want (up to a maximum of six in one transaction).
• Follow the on-screen instructions to enter your card details and make a payment.
• Your eCodes will be displayed online immediately, and also sent by email. 
• Use your eCodes to buy a ticket at the cinema of your choice. You can book your tickets online or at the cinema's box office.

Things to know

MyRewards allows you to earn related Rewards in a variety of ways such as when you pay Direct Debits, spend with your debit or credit card or log in to the mobile app.

You can watch your Rewards grow and when you have more than £5 in Rewards you can choose to redeem to your current or savings accounts, pay off your credit card balance, exchange for an eGift card, points with our partners or donate to one of our charities. 

Accessing MyRewards is easy. 

1. Log in through your Royal Bank mobile app and see your latest offers and more 
2. Alternatively, you can access MyRewards through your Digital Banking.

No, you do not need to tell us that you are travelling in order to be covered by our travel insurance however register your travel details with Royal Bank at least 24 hours before your trip, and we'll do our best to ensure your holiday spending isn't affected at all.

Simply go to the app, tap on the account that your card is linked to, select 'Manage my card' and then select ‘Going Abroad’ to register your trip.

You can register one trip at a time. It can include up to seven countries and last 90 days. Register each country you are visiting. The marker will apply to all debit cards in your name. Joint account holders should register separately.

The main change you will see is the balance that was previously called “Available balance” has changed into two separate parts:

• Balance including pending transactions – this is now the prominent balance you will see for your current account (and will be shown in bold)
• Arranged overdraft limit (if you have one)

What do my balances include?

Balance including pending transactions - this is the amount of your own money including any pending transactions outstanding. It doesn’t include cheques until they are cleared (for more detail on pending transactions and cheque clearing see below).

Overdraft Limit - this is your arranged overdraft limit. If you do not have one, this will not show.

Overdraft Remaining - this shows the remaining amount of your arranged overdraft, this will only be displayed if you are using your limit.

Account Balance - this is how much money you have in your account before any pending transactions are processed and includes uncleared cheques paid in. This was previously called ‘Today’s balance’.

After completing an exchange, your eGift Card(s) will be uploaded to your eGift Card wallet in the MyRewards app and emailed to the email address linked to your MyRewards account, if you can't see it check it hasn't gone to your junk folder. 

You can find all exchanged eGift Cards since 27 August 2024 in your eGift Card wallet. For exchanges made prior to 27 August 2024 or exchanges for Avios or Emirates, please check your email inbox. 

If your eGift Card is not available in your eGift Card wallet and you have not received the confirmation email, or you have not had the point/miles added to your BAEC or Emirates Skywards accounts please complete the 'Report a Missing Exchange' form within when logged into your MyRewards account. We'll investigate on your behalf and let you know the outcome within 5 working days.
