Support for female entrepreneurs

Royal Bank of Scotland is rolling out its Expert in Residence programme to help even more women-led businesses.

Ask for more

We’re on a mission to help more women start and scale up their businesses. But we know that women are 80% less likely to apply for funding and when they do they ask for less.

The Rose Review published this year by our CEO Alison Rose and HMT, identified three significant opportunities to help more women succeed as entrepreneurs, from start-up to scale up:

Increased funding directed towards female entrepreneurs.

Greater family care support for female entrepreneurs.

Giving women increased access to role models, mentors and networks.

Investing in Women Code

One of the key recommendations of the Rose Review was to promote greater transparency in the UK funding allocation. To address that we’ve been a founding member of the Investing in Women Code – a commitment by financial services firms to improve female entrepreneurs’ access to tools, resources and finance.

An extra £1bn of funding available for Women in Business

In 2020 we lent over £1bn to female-led businesses, due to the extraordinary impacts of the coronavirus. So this year we’ve announced an additional £1bn, open to new and existing customers, and it’s part of our overall efforts to continue to close the gap with male entrepreneurs.

You can apply for this funding through our range of loan and finance options.

Our aim is to drive confidence in preparation for the future world of work and impact the percentage of women who intend to start a business.
