Great cover for your mobile

Your Black Account Mobile Phone Insurance looks after your mobile wherever you are. It protects your registered phone against loss, damage, breakdown and unauthorised calls.

You can even register an iPhone, Smart phone or PDA. They’re all included up to a maximum original retail value of £1,250 for each phone.

Mobile insurance cover

  • Up to £1,250 replacement value – for each phone. If your phone is worth more than £1,250, you’ll only be covered up to £1,250.
  • Covers loss, theft, accidental damage and breakdown – including water, liquid and malicious damage and electrical or mechanical fault.
  • Unauthorised calls cover – up to £2,500 for monthly contracts and £100 for pay as you go customers.
  • Worldwide protection – wherever you are in the world, you’re covered. Repair or replacement will be arranged on return to the UK.
  • Accessories up to £200 per claim – that were lost, stolen or damaged at the same time as your phone. Accessories include chargers, cases, earphones and memory cards.

Main exclusions

  • Maximum claims – no more than two successful claims during any 12 month period.
  • Excesses – £50 for non iPhone or £100 for iPhone.
  • Start date – your cover will begin seven days after you register your details.
  • Proof of purchase – you need to provide this for any claim.
  • Ownership – the phones must be registered to authorised users by the account holder. A maximum of two authorised users per phone.
  • Claims procedure – follow the process shown in how to make a claim. This also tells you how much time you have to make your claim.

You have to register your claim within 48 hours of discovering the loss or other incident.

If your phone has been lost, stolen or maliciously damaged, you have to do the following within 24 hours of discovering the loss:

  • Inform the police and get an incident reference number.
  • Contact your mobile phone operator to stop any further unauthorised calls being made.

Please have your Black Account number, mobile phone number or IMEI number and any Police incident number to hand. We will send you a claim form which you must return within 30 days along with a payment to cover the excess.

If you are outside of the UK when you discover the incident, you must register your claim within 48 hours of return to the UK. Please note we won’t replace your device until you return to the UK.

Q. Which phones can I cover?

A. The policy covers most mobile phones, including the iPhone, Smart phones and PDAs.

However, the phones covered by this policy must be your property or the property of your family member who lives in the same residence as you.

Q. When does my cover start?

A. Your cover will start seven days after you register. You will not be able to make a claim for any incident which occurs within this period.

Q. What do I need to register my phone?

A. You will need to tell us:

  • Your name and address.
  • The mobile phone number(s).
  • The make, model, and IMEI number of the mobile phone(s).
  • Whether the mobile phone is on a monthly contract or pay-as-you-go.
  • Your Black Account number and sort code.
  • Your date of birth.

Q. How do I find the IMEI number for my phone?

A. Your Phone’s IMEI number should be displayed when you enter *#06# on the keypad.

Q. Can I swap my cover to a new phone?

A. Yes. Simply tell us if you have changed phone or SIM card.

The phone and SIM card will not be covered for the period of seven days after you register them, or seven days after you change the phone and/or SIM card you have already registered.

If you would like to cover an alternative phone, you must tell us as soon as possible.

Q. Will the replacement phone I receive be identical?

A. We will try to provide you with the same model as the one you have claimed for. If we cannot provide you with an exact replacement, then we will supply you with one that has similar features and functionality to the one you have claimed for All replacement Mobile Phones will either be of the same make and model or of a similar specification and will not be an upgrade to the latest model. Replacements may be new items but they may sometimes be refurbished stock.

Q. What is a suitable proof of purchase?

A. You’ll need a receipt, a dispatch note or a bill from your network supplier. This must include your IMEI number and the make and model of your handset.
