Mobile phone banking provides the perfect way to stay in touch with your finances even when you're out and about. There are a variety of features and benefits for you to enjoy. Read on to find out more.
- Limit alerts - a text when your account hits upper or lower limits set by you. Why not use these to confirm when you've been paid or to warn you that you're about to go overdrawn?
- Balance updates - we'll send your account balance to your mobile phone once a week, on a day and time that suits you. You could choose to receive an update each Friday, so that you know how much you have to spend over the weekend
- NEW: Quick statements - text 'MINI' to 87727 and we'll send you a free text with an up-to-the-minute account balance and mini statement (with up to six of your latest transactions). Save the number to your phonebook and you could check your account whenever you need to. Standard network message rates apply when requesting this service.

- Check balances and statements - view an up-to-the-minute account balance or a mini statement with your last 6 transactions. You could save yourself a trip to the local cash machine
- Mobile phone top up - top up the pay as you go phone you're using, and up to four others too, direct from your current account (service currently not available for customers on the 3 network).

Costs and charges for mobile phone banking
RBS will not charge you for any mobile phone banking services, received via text or by accessing the application. However, your mobile phone network operator may charge for certain services. Read on to find out more.
Quick statements
To request this service, you will need to text 'MINI' to 87727 and standard network message rates will apply. RBS will then send your account balance and mini statement by text for free.
Data charges for mobile phone banking application
Most mobile network operators don't charge for downloading and using the application in the UK. Orange, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone currently charge however this will depend on your tariff.
Additional overseas network charges may apply for all networks. Please check with your network provider.
Mobile phone top up charges
Mobile phone top ups will be debited directly from your current account and will be shown on your current account statement (service currently not available for customers on the 3 network).

A. You'll need:
- Your mobile phone
- Your mobile phone number
- The debit card for the account you want to register. (You can add other accounts yourself later.)
Q. How long does it take to get started with mobile phone banking or text alerts?
A. The registration process should take less than 10 minutes. Once the process is complete, your card details will be verified within 24 hours and then you'll be ready to go.
Q. What accounts can I access with mobile phone banking?
A. You can access all your RBS accounts which come with a debit card.
Q. Can I use mobile phone banking if I have a joint account?
A. Yes - but both of you will need to register separately. That's because you need to access the service using your own mobile phone.
Q. Will mobile phone banking work on my phone?
A. As long as you can receive text messages on your mobile phone, then text banking should work on your phone.
The mobile phone banking application works on most modern mobile phones. If your phone has a camera or games, it should work.
To use the application your phone must:
- Support Java
- Have at least 64kb of free memory
- Be able to connect to the internet - using WAP (GPRS) or 3G.
