Your account transfer should take approximately 5 minutes to complete.

Once you have clicked on the 'Submit' button below, we will forward your application for processing. If you have received a letter from The Royal Bank of Scotland offering you the opportunity to upgrade your account to Student Royalties, you will have been asked to quote a code. This code should be entered into the 'Promotional Code box' on the application form. We do not require any further action from you (even if you have not received your conditional or unconditional offer as yet). Your account should be upgraded within 5 business days from submission.

If you have not received a letter from The Royal Bank of Scotland, or are not able to provide a promotional code as part of this application because you have lost/mislaid this letter, you will need to provide us with your conditional/unconditional college/university offer letter prior to us upgrading your account. This documentation should be forwarded/taken in to your branch. It will take no more than five business days following confirmation of your student status before these changes have been fully applied to your account.

Eligibility Criteria

To transfer your account online you must:

  • Have an existing Royal Bank of Scotland Current Account (excluding Key Account)
  • Have applied to complete a first full time higher education course, post graduate course or train as a nurse. The course must last for a minimum of 2 years (1 year for postgraduates). You must use the Student Royalties account as your main current account and deposit regular amounts into it by way of local education/Student Awards Agency for Scotland funding, parental contribution, salary, student loan or other funding, such as sponsorship or bursary. We will only allow you to hold one student account which offers preferential terms such as interest free overdraft facilities with us (or any other financial institution). Any account not deemed to be conducted in the above manner or that breach these terms and conditions will be subject to removal of facilities and closure.
  • You must be 18 years old or over if applying for credit facilities.

Financial Services Compensation Scheme

The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc is a member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme established under the Financial Services and Market Act 2000. In respect of deposits with a UK office, payments under the Scheme are limited to 100% of the first £2,000 of a depositor's total deposits with the Bank and 90% of the next £33,000, resulting in a maximum payment of £31,700. Most depositors, including individuals and small firms, are covered. Deposits denominated in all currencies are treated alike. Further details of the scheme are available on request.

Complaints

If you are not satisfied with any of our products or services we have a complaint handling procedure that you can use to resolve such matters. If you are still not satisfied after following our procedures, you can ask the ombudsman to review the complaint. Cancellation Rights

If you are dissatisfied with your choice of account and decide to close the account or switch, with our approval, to another account within 14 days of the first payment into the account, no extra charges will be payable. In order to instruct us to do so, you must confirm your decision in writing, addressed to:
