Payment execution times

Payments from an RBS Credit Card (excluding purchases) will be executed within 4 working days unless circumstances occur which are beyond our reasonable control and prevent this. Please note that other financial institutions may be involved in processing these payments, for example, when the account of the recipient of a payment is held with a different financial institution. We are not responsible for, nor can we control, other institutions’ timescales in processing payments.

We calculate the execution time from the date we receive payment instructions, not the date that they are sent (unless we specifically agree otherwise).

For purchases, we will debit a credit card account with a payment on the same day that we receive the payment instruction from the merchant through the card scheme.

Payments to an RBS Credit Card

Below are the different ways that an RBS Credit Card bill can be paid, and the time to allow for each payment method.

Direct Debit	Minimum payment – payment is claimed 25 calendar days from statement date or shortly afterwards. Full payment– payment is claimed 15 calendar days from statement date or shortly afterwards.
RBS Credit Card Online Services	3 full working days for debit card payments.
At any branch of NatWest or RBS	2 hours for Faster Payments. 3 full working days for cash and other payments. If paying by cheque, funds must be cleared before payment is accepted.
At a branch of any other bank	3 full working days. If paying by cheque, funds must be cleared before payment is accepted.
RBS online banking (RBS current account customers only)	2 hours for Faster Payments. 3 full working days for other payments.
RBS telephone banking (RBS current account customers only)	2 hours for Faster Payments. 3 full working days for other payments.
Over the phone	2 full working days.
Cheque payments by post	7 full working days. Funds must be cleared before payment is accepted.
Other banks’ Online and Telephone Banking services	2 hours for Faster Payments. 3 full working days for other payments.

Working days excludes weekends and bank holidays.
