Additional information
Bankline supplies a field in which to enter the destination Bank Identification Code (BIC) which your beneficiary should supply. If you are uncertain of this code a look up facility is provided via the magnifying glass icon which you will find next to the Bank Identification Code field on the payment entry screen.
Sending payments to countries in Europe
- The European Payments Council has defined the payment structure that all payments to European destinations must follow. Your beneficiary should be able to provide this information - it is normally available on their Bank statement
- You must input a Bank Identification Code (BIC)
- If you do not know the bank/branch code you should use the BIC look-up search facility by clicking on the magnifying glass icon
- You must also input an International Bank Account Number (IBAN)
Sending payments to the following countries:
- United States of America
- Hong Kong
- Canada
- Australia
- South Africa
- New Zealand
You must input the beneficiary's Bank Identification Code (BIC) or National Country Code (NCC).
If you do not know the BIC or NCC you should use the look-up search facility by clicking on the magnifying glass icon .

- In the 'Beneficiary Address' field, quote the beneficiary's address
- If the payment destination is a local branch and the BIC used relates to the Head Office, at the end of the 'Beneficiary Address' field, quote any additional supporting information you feel is relevant regarding the payment destination such as local branch name and branch code if known e.g. account held with your XYZ Branch number 12345
Low Value Payments (LVPs)
- Low Value Payments can be made up to the value of £2,000 currency equivalent
- Payments must be remitted in the local currency of the destination country but payments to Cyprus, Denmark, Sweden and Switzerland can additionally be remitted in Euros
Euro payments
- LVPs can be remitted in Euros for the countries listed below
- BIC and IBANs must be used for all payments. A specimen IBAN for each country is also detailed below
- The BIC should be populated in the "Bank Identification Code" box
- The IBAN should be populated in the "IBAN" box

- Information to be sent to the beneficiary can be up to 4 lines of 35 characters of data
- Charges must be set as "shared" i.e. you pay RBS charges and the beneficiary pays the foreign bank charges. In practise the foreign bank charges should be minimal for this payment type
