Single Euro Payment Area
Making non-cash euro payments across the EU
SEPA is the Single Euro Payment Area. It launched at the end of January 2008, providing a common way of making non-cash euro payments across the EU. With SEPA, your business is able to make euro payments as easily internationally as it does domestically. It reduces complexity, increases efficiency and improves your experience of making payments. SEPA is an objective of the European Commission and has been created by the European Banking Association and the European Payments Council (EPC).
You are now able to use a new range of payment instruments. You may also want to consider centralising your cash management, as SEPA has created a single domestic market for euro payments. By consolidating your accounts you may make some cost savings as you don't need to hold accounts in multiple EU countries.
