This Teacher Support Pack is designed to support
the teaching of Business Management (14-16) in Scotland.
The pack comprises a number of case studies
divided into two sections. The first section contains a series of historical
business profiles, some real some fictitious, which draw upon material from many
archive collections, including those of The Royal Bank of Scotland. The profiles
aim to use the lessons of the past as a key to understanding modern business
methods and approaches. They can be used independently or as a developmental
learning tool to reinforce the study of business establishment, growth and
expansion, decline and regeneration.
The second part of the resource comprises an
in-depth study of three fictitious, modern companies. These case studies are
closely linked to the four foundation areas of the Business Management syllabus.
In addition they are structured to ensure that pupils can develop the capability
to make informed judgements on economic and social issues, can develop
technological capability, can make connections to the world of work and can
develop financial capability.
The Business Management Teacher Support Pack was
developed, and distributed to schools throughout Scotland in printed format in
2000, by Learning + Teaching Scotland in partnership with The Royal Bank of
Scotland. The pack is made available on this site as a downloadable PDF along
with the solutions to the various investigations.
The pack and solutions are also available from
Learning + Teaching Scotlands website at
www.LTScotland.org.uk.
